Groupy Pocket
Offline-first mobile audio player with GPU shaders & SQLite caching for Android & iOS.
- Role
- Mobile engineering, native architecture, audio subsystems & design
What it is
Groupy Pocket is the official mobile companion for the Groupy music ecosystem, built with React Native and Expo 57. Engineered from the ground up for high-fidelity offline audio playback, local file importing, background media controls, GPU shaders, and bidirectional cloud synchronization with Groupy Web.

Architectural Highlights
100% Offline SQLite WAL Storage
All audio files, playlists, and listening history are cached locally in an embedded SQLite database using Write-Ahead Logging (WAL) mode. The app is completely functional offline with zero third-party telemetry or forced network dependency.
Custom GPU Shaders on Mobile
Bringing the signature elevation contour visual identity from Groupy Web into native mobile screens through hardware-accelerated WebGL / GLSL shaders running at 60fps.

Native Audio Session Management
Full lock-screen media controls, Bluetooth audio metadata streaming, gapless track transitions, and remote audio ducking when navigating other apps or answering calls.
Bidirectional Cloud Sync
When connected to the internet, Groupy Pocket syncs offline listening logs and personal playlists back into Groupy Web profiles and the Elevation Recap analytics engine.
